The Mines ~ Blog

Epic, Indie, Pop Rock

Time for an update on what’s been going on with the recording of our next CD.

First off, we have landed on a CD title that has us all excited.  (Sorry, but the title is going to remain top secret for a little while longer).  Having a title that we all love is a big step in the right direction!

The current plan is that the CD will include 9 songs — unless one final song comes to us out of nowhere that we just have to include.

Kirk Duponce, who created the excellent art for our Metropolis CD (dogeareddesign.com), has just signed on to tackle the album art.

Last Sunday, Todd finished recording the drum tracks for all of the songs.

All but 3 songs have the bass guitar tracks finished, with Ethan recording the remaining tracks in a few weeks.

Four of the songs have almost all of the tracking done, and a good chunk of the mixing.

Greg will be tracking his remaining guitar parts in a few weeks  Troy will complete his shortly after that session.

Ethan & Greg will finish their vocal tracks after that, and the mixdown will follow those sessions.

So as you can see we have a plan and we’re working it one step at a time.

We’re really excited about getting these songs to out in the world, but at the same time we want to make sure they’re the best we can make them, so thanks for your patience — and for even caring about The Mines.

If you’re interested in a inside look into our process, check out the video series of our recording process at youtube.com/theminesonline.  We haven’t been publishing every minute of the sessions (don’t want to bore you too much) but just posting short 1 to 2 minute highlight videos of various parts of the process. Check it out if you’re interested.
